Certificate and Diploma FAQ

About the Program

Certificate programs are comprised of five 3-credit courses (15 credits in total) and can be completed within one year.

Diploma programs are comprised of ten 3-credit courses (30 credits in total) and can be completed within two years.

Yes. You cannot, however, count a course towards two different certificates.

Can I transfer my certificate credits to a diploma?

All courses counted towards a certificate can also be counted towards a diploma. Note that the maximum length of a diploma program is 5 years. All coursework taken for the diploma, including any courses taken for the certificate, must be completed within the 5-year timeframe.

Can I transfer my certificate and/or diploma credits to a Master's (MEd or MA) degree?

Up to 6 credits from the ECED certificates may be applied to the MA or MEd in Early Childhood Education, providing they are not applied to a diploma. Up to 6 credits taken in a diploma program can be transferred to the MA or MEd in Early Childhood Education, providing they were not applied to the diploma.

Registration

  1. Visit the UBC Course Schedule
  2. Once you have been admitted to UBC, login with your Campus-Wide Login (CWL) ID and password to the Student Service Centre. You must pay the non-refundable registration deposit in order to register in a course.

Registration dates and times are determined by your admission category, find current dates here.

If you skip a term, you need to notify TEO Admissions to have your registration eligibility re-activated when ready to start again.
