BC Early Childhood Education Assistant & Basic Certificate

UBC’s Faculty of Education is offering a program of courses that would lead to the BC Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Assistant and Basic Certificates. These credentials are required by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care to work in licensed early childhood settings in BC, and are obtained by applying to the BC ECE Registry for certification upon program completion.

An individual with the Assistant Certificate is able to work in a child care setting under the supervision of a certified Early Childhood Educator or Infant Toddler Educator for children birth to 5 years of age. A certified ECE with the Basic Certificate is able to work alone and/or as the primary educator in a child care setting for children 3 to 5 years of age, and may work alongside an Infant Toddler Educator in programs for children under 36 months.

3 intakes per year: January, May, September.
